On November 3rd 2009 a special election will be held in New York's 23rd congressional district to elect a replacement for Rep. John McHugh, who has resigned from office to become Secretary of the Army.
Intrade has listed a market on the outcome of this election under Politics -- US Congress.
Contract Rules:
A contract will settle (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if the candidate from the party specified in this contract wins the special election.
The contract will settle (expire) at 0 ($0.00) if the candidate from the party specified in this contract does not win the special election.
Expiry will be based on the officially declared winner of the election, as reported by three independent and reliable media sources.
This market will remain open until an official winner has been declared. If there is court action to settle the winner then the market will remain open until this has been settled.

The Exchange reserves the right to invoke Contract Rule 1.8 (Time Protection) if deemed appropriate.
Any changes to the result after the contract has expired will not be taken into account - Exchange Rule 1.4
